Yes another snow day and it's about time. Ava and Emma have discovered back behind our garage a very large mountain of snow that appears each time it snows. I don't think they know it's because the snow plow makes the mountain from the small parking lot sharing our alley. Just yesterday they were complaining about the snow melting as they watched -little by little- their mountain melt away.
We don't own any sleds and I can't believe we've gotten away with it this far-so the girls put their snow pants on and make a slide on one side of the mountain and a stairway on the other. Then they proceed down on their bottoms creating hours of fun when the rest of us are grumbling inside for the snow to go away and never return.
I remember as a child loving the snow. I went sledding made snowmen and snow angels and best of all snow forts that looked like miniature igloos. When did my feelings for old man winter change? As much as I despise the cold weather and the wet snow now I'm happy to see my daughters have the same love and fun with the snow as I once did.
Being a child is truly magical. They find wonder in the little things and become queens and kings of their own little mountains.
Children's imaginations are priceless. You don't always need expensive toys to play with or slide on.
