How I do it

Paul is gone for a week at the bi-annual training trip in South Carolina.

I don't like it when he's gone but have learned to manage on my own. The daily chores and activities don't change but the evenings become a tad more stressful without backup. All my friends know this-most being mothers themselves-and decided to lift my burdens this week by performing acts of kindness and service to my family.

The last several months I have learned some great lessons about service:
It's not out of pitty-It's not because I CAN'T do it- It's because they love me and genuinely want to help lift my load.
Helping others can lift our own burdens make us happier and uplifts the soul. One is deprived of these tangible gifts if You (I) keep saying NO. I know I would feel a small sense of rejection if my friends in need kept telling me NO. SO I've decided to let others serve me.

This has come in the form of delivered dinners-lunches-babysitting-invitations for playdates and dinners and listening ears.

So that's how I do it. I let others help me. In return I get to teach a valuable lesson to my children that took me 35 years to learn: serve others and -sometimes more importantly- let others serve you.

Thank You!
